Aberdeen, UK September 23, 2019 – HVAC & Refrigeration Engineering Ltd (HVAC&R), now Nucore Group, announces the award of a significant new contract in Sakhalin worth over £1m to the business.
The contract, encompassing engineering, procurement, construction and surveying, was awarded earlier in year. The equipment has been deployed and is now being commissioned on two rigs located in Sakhalin. The scope of work included: -
- To survey existing installations on both platforms
- Engineering work including detailed designs, calculations, drawings and specifications
- Production of 3D co-ordinated drawings
- Selection and procurement of all equipment and material for both scopes
- Oversee installations and assist with the commissioning of all systems
The contract covered two specific projects for two platforms located off the North-East coast of Sakhalin Island.
Project 1 Nucore was commissioned to design a new local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system to serve the 5 existing shale shakers with suitable local exhaust systems. Each system extracts the dirty air from the enclosure hood(s) of the shakers, filter the air as required via removable oil mist separators then discharge to atmosphere via extract louvres on the bulkhead.
On the second project, Nucore was commissioned to design a new local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system for the second platform to serve existing mixing hoppers with a suitable local exhaust system. In summary, the system extracts the dirty air from the enclosure hood(s) of the hoppers, filters the air as required then discharge back into the sack store area after filtering out contaminates to a predetermined level.
Scott Ligertwood, Operations Manager, commented: "The awarding of this new contract is a significant award for the company and reinforces the strong relationship that it has within the global offshore energy sector. Nucore has previous experience in Sakhalin and this contract confirms the strategic positioning of Nucore Group on a global platform. Nucore continues to demonstrate processes to exploit natural resources with maximum respect for the environment and the reduction of the carbon footprint".
